We offer a wide range of treatments, from general to cosmetic, including minor oral surgery, fillings, root fillings, crowns, bridges, tooth whitening and periodontal treatment (to improve the condition of your gums). We know that coming to the dentist can be a daunting prospect for many people and do our best to build your confidence. Our aim is for you to be happy and confident to come to see us and with your smile. We have attained the high standards needed to become the first Denplan Excel practice in Macclesfield.
We aim to improve your dental health to reduce your need for dental treatment by keeping your mouth and gums healthy. I work closely with yourself and my hygienist to keep your gums as healthy as possible. This is vital as more adults lose teeth through gum disease than from tooth decay, and may mean that you come to see me or the hygienist every three months. If you join Denplan Care or Denplan Essentials this is included in your payment plan. Regular routine visits and involving you in your dental care are important to us, which is one reason why we became involved in the Denplan Excel Accreditation Programme. We have a wide range of patient information sheets with advice on how to look after your and your children’s teeth and information on various treatments and conditions. We strongly recommend high fluoride toothpaste for children as it is clinically proven to be the most effective means of preventing tooth decay. Talk to Robin about what strength is appropriate for your children.
Tooth whitening can help improve the appearance of your smile and help you feel more confident. We can provide tooth whitening where appropriate and are happy to discuss it with you. The treatment we offer is gradual and so allows you to have more control over the finished effect. The pictures on the right show the effect of tooth whitening. Please note that the tooth at the far right of each picture is not the patient’s own but rather a sample which was matched to the original tooth colour and so highlights the difference made by tooth whitening.
We want you to be happy with the appearance of your teeth, we know this can help boost confidence and in the days of Zoom calls more people are becoming aware of this. We can provide more complex cosmetic dentistry where appropriate, without jeopardising the health of your mouth. We are concerned about your general dental health and in some cases we may need to work with you to improve this before embarking on more complex treatments.
We understand that many people are nervous about visiting the dentist, and that some people have dental phobias, especially if they have had bad experiences in the past. Please tell us if you are particularly anxious about visiting us and we will do all we can to help build up your confidence. Our patient surveys have shown that we are particularly good at this. We know that if you are very nervous, contacting the dentist for the first time can make you feel anxious. If so, we have found it may help you to contact us for the first time by email. If so, just go to our Contacts page and you can contact us directly.
There is an on-site orthodontic practice (Janet Gledhill’s) on the middle floor of the building to which we may make referrals if appropriate and which we highly recommend. We can also refer you for implant treatment if required, which we generally do to a consultant at the hospital as we believe that this is gives you the best possible level of care for what is a very specialised procedure.
If you are a patient of Robin’s and have a dental emergency generally please ring the surgery on 01625 508040 in the first instance, even out of hours. Robin provides emergency cover for his patients even at weekends and on bank holidays (including Christmas Day).
